Dermtek Pharma was founded in Pointe-Claire in 1985. A leader in therapeutic dermatology in Canada, Dermtek Pharma designs products that meet the needs of specialists while still being accessible to consumers. Since its inception, the company has launched over 30 skincare products, including a dozen specialized dermatological treatments and several dermocosmetics with anti-aging properties.

A pioneer who worked for over 50 years in the field, Robert Lavoie founded Dermtek to create the country’s first pharmaceutical manufacturer of dermatological products. Thanks to an innovative approach combining powerful active ingredients and advanced delivery technologies, the company quickly established itself in the medical field.

Over the years, Dermtek has made its mark on the history of Canadian dermatology. In the 1990s, it introduced Ombrelle sunscreen, offering complete protection against UVA and UVB rays. Dermtek then launched Reversa, a skincare brand designed to correct the signs of aging. Well-known for its use of glycolic acid, Reversa is entirely designed in Québec, with vegan formulas, and, since 2018, is cruelty-free. 

Today, Michel and Marie-Claude, the second generation, continue the family mission. They remain focused on offering effective, safe and affordable products while innovating through Dermtek’s own R&D centre.

Dermtek Pharma has won several prestigious awards. Founder Robert Lavoie was inducted into the Canadian Healthcare Marketing Hall of Fame in 2004. The Reversa campaign received two Gold Lions in 2006. More recently, the brand was honoured by the Beauty Grand Prix, organized by Elle Québec/Elle Canada, in 2021, 2022 and 2024, and by the Beauty Best Awards for three consecutive years.

The company has been a member of Les Produits du Québec program since March 2025. Certain of its products carry the Manufactured in Québec certification mark.
