Malté is the story of two friends, Olivier Breault-Tourigny and Philippe Rioux. Seeking an escape from the ordinary and aspiring to venture into entrepreneurship with a purpose, they set their sights on contributing to a healthier society at an individual and collective level. In 2021, their vision took form with the launch of a line of natural, environmentally friendly personal care products. Malté was born. 

 

The Brossard-based company's mission is far from conventional, employing an exceptional approach: crafting premium products from spent grain. Yes, they use the byproducts microbreweries generated during beer production to fashion their merchandise. What's remarkable? This technique maximizes the unique benefits of this material on both skin and hair, harmonizing perfectly with their circular philosophy: nothing wasted, nothing created, everything transformed. Olivier and Philippe take pride in offering locally crafted products. Soaps are made in Cowansville and shampoos/conditioners are produced in Belœil. 

 

Malté in the spotlight 

The company earned a spot in the inaugural cohort of the IGA Local Accelerator, an initiative designed to propel local businesses forward. 

Malté was also a finalist in the OSEntreprendre business start-up competition, in the Operations, Processing and Production category. 

 

Malté and Les Produits du Québec 

 

The company has been a member of the Les Produits du Québec program since July 2022, when some of its products obtained the Fabriqué au Québec certification mark. 

Products bearing the certification mark include shower gel, shampoos, conditioners and soaps.
