Founded in 1944 in La Tuque as L'Économie, the company has evolved over the decades into one of the largest clothing retailers in the province, boasting over 50 outlets. Its growth has included significant transformations, particularly in the 1980s and 1997, when the chain modernized its image to align with current fashion trends while maintaining affordable prices.

 

Aubainerie is renowned for its extensive range of clothing options, which includes athletic wear, winter coats, sleepwear, swimwear, and underwear. Mindful of environmental concerns, Aubainerie has adopted an ecologically responsible approach. Since 2020, the company has implemented several initiatives to reduce its environmental impact. These include replacing a large proportion of its in-store display media with recycled materials and encouraging customers to use reusable bags. Aubainerie is also increasingly using organic cotton in its baby, children's, and adult clothing and recycled polyester in its women's jeans. Additionally, the company ensures that its coats and winter garments are free from PFCs, chemicals known to harm the environment.
