Founded in Beloeil by Norman Décarie in 1978, SAIL is a true Quebec jewel. What does SAIL mean? Surplus d’Armée Imrico Limité, an acronym well anchored in the Quebec landscape since its beginnings. Its influence has transcended its native region of Montérégie, spreading far and wide through the opening of numerous stores that have contributed to cementing its reputation.
Today, SAIL plays a major role in the outdoor sector, so much so that the company has nearly 1,300 employees across its head office in Laval and 12 stores located in Quebec and Ontario. In addition to physical points of sale, SAIL serves all of Canada through its e-commerce website, sail.ca.
Every day, SAIL makes it a point to respect the mission it has set for itself: to equip and offer an authentic customer experience to every outdoor enthusiast so that they can fully enjoy it. To achieve this, the company relies on fundamental values that guide its actions, namely passion, customer orientation, respect, empathy, performance and integrity. In order to ensure that it meets the needs of its loyal consumers, SAIL has 60 major brands and over 500,000 products in stores, thus offering one of the largest selections in the country.
Aware of the impact of its actions on the environment, the company is committed to taking concrete measures to protect outdoor spaces, which are critically important to the company and its customers. Reducing printing, using better packaging options, selecting ecological and eco-responsible brands, limiting greenhouse gas emissions related to travel and optimizing current systems are all initiatives integrated into the future vision of the company.
Another example of SAIL's eco-responsible commitment? Its online platform reSAIL allows outdoor enthusiasts to find second-hand clothes, shoes and equipment, ready to get back into nature. In addition to offering an ecological and affordable solution, reSAIL promotes reuse while making the outdoors accessible to as many people as possible.
SAIL and Les Produits du Québec
SAIL has been a retail partner of the Les Produits du Québec program since November 2023.
"As a Quebec outdoor retailer, it is important that people here can take advantage of the large and unique spaces available to them. At SAIL, we are committed to highlighting our local partners in order to contribute directly to the regional economy and to promote the creation of local jobs."
