ABOUT
Poupilou is a small business with a simple idea: to offer children a soft, durable and comforting companion. The project was started by Laurence Béliveau, a fashion designer from Beauce. Inspired by her own need for comfort during childhood, she came up with a 2-in-1 plushie, a cross between a stuffed animal and a blanket. Each Poupilou is meant to be a reassuring, everyday presence, to be passed on to the next generation.
With a mission to support children’s emotional well-being, the company designs products that have a calming effect and encourage emotional development. Why Poupilou? It was the name of the founder's cat when she was a child. The pet was a source of comfort for her.
Poupilou places great importance on the quality of materials, environmental responsibility and respect for local partners. It uses sustainable materials, including 100% recycled filling, and works with carefully selected manufacturers. Poupilou also supports the local economy and redistributes certain products to children in need through its “Mission Douceur” program.

Poupilou and Les Produits du Québec
“Joining Les Produits du Québec is more than just a marketing tactic; it’s a concrete way to show that, behind every local product, there are passionate, committed people who have deep roots in their community. For me, buying local means investing in businesses that have soul and that breathe new life into our economy.”
The company has been a member of Les Produits du Québec program since February 2025. Certain of its products carry the Designed in Québec certification mark.
