Based in Montréal since 1983, Pharmascience manufactures and distributes generic, brand-name and over-the-counter drugs. With more than 1,600 dedicated employees, it’s now a major player in the pharmaceutical industry in Canada and around the world.
Pharmascience products may be sold in more than 50 countries, but they all get their start right here: Production facilities and the research centre are located in Québec, in Montréal, Candiac and Dorval. Plants can produce up to 5 billion tablets and capsules a year. That’s huge, and it allows the company to respond quickly and efficiently to the needs of pharmacists and patients.
The company is also focused on innovation. Each year, it invests between $40 million and $50 million in R&D, all of which is carried out in Canada. Through its Pendopharm division, it develops specialized drugs to treat diseases in gastroenterology, neurology and orthopedics.
In addition to its healthcare mission, Pharmascience gives back to the community through donations to schools, hospitals and charities. In 2024, it was even recognized as one of the 50 best places to work in the country.
