Lutin de Forêt is the small crocheted world created by Fabiola Castillo, where eco-conscious elves are born to protect the forest and the unseen world. Inspired by the magic of the woods in Mont-Saint-Hilaire, she makes each companion from natural, organic or recycled fibres, chosen for their softness, quality and durability. Made entirely by hand, they reflect the patience, meticulous attention and concern for the environment that goes into each one.

Since 2017, Lutin de Forêt’s mission has been to make sustainable, imaginative toys, to be treasured for years to come, right here in Québec. For the creator, producing locally is a concrete way to reduce the ecological footprint of her creations while promoting Québec craftsmanship and a more responsible mode of consumption.

Fabiola, whom everyone calls Faby, grew up surrounded by wool, knitting and skilled hands—those of her grandmothers, her great-aunt and even her father. For her, seeing an object come to life from a single strand of yarn has always been magical. Her love of nature blended with this textile heritage when her children were born. She wanted to give them healthy toys that were designed with the planet in mind.

 

Lutin de Forêt’s products have earned the Manufactured in Québec certification mark as part of a partnership between the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec and Les Produits du Québec, launched in December 2024.
