ABOUT
Coo-Mon is a Montréal-based company founded by Ingrid Agbato that offers fashion items inspired by cultures from around the world. The name itself is a blend of two city names – Cotonou, her hometown in Benin, and Montréal, where she now lives – reflecting a rich journey and the founder’s desire to build bridges between cultures.
An expert sewer, Ingrid designs accessories and textile pieces using materials sourced from a variety of places, blending tradition and modernity. Through its collections, Coo-Mon invites people to discover different cultures and celebrate diversity, all in an accessible and distinctive style.
The company also adheres to a responsible approach. Products are made is small batches using artisanal methods that reuse materials and reduce textile waste. Coo-Mon also employs sustainable practices such as exploring natural dyes.
Coo-Mon doesn’t stop at fashion; it conveys a message of openness and sharing. Each piece becomes an invitation to travel, to reach out to others and to acknowledge the richness of the cultures that surround us.
Coo-Mon and Les Produits du Québec
Coo-Mon products have earned the Manufactured in Québec certification mark as part of a partnership between the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec and Les Produits du Québec, launched in December 2024.
“Buying local for me is a concrete way to support the local economy and the people behind the products. Every purchase becomes an act that promotes our communities’ artisanship, creativity and sustainability. As a company that manufactures its accessories in Montréal, obtaining a certification like Les Produits du Québec is a way to clearly demonstrate our commitment to local production and to highlight the work done here. Plus, Les Produits du Québec program makes it easier for consumers to identify businesses that actually make things here. It provides transparency and builds trust in local brands.”
