ABOUT

Brin de Fibre is the workshop of Nicole Arsenault, a weaver based in Terrebonne. There, she creates handmade textiles from natural fibres, sometimes dyed with plants she grows herself. She also spins her own wool to produce 100% handwrought yarns. Each piece, including several unique scarves, is carefully crafted with respect for the materials and the time demanded by the craft.

Nicole’s interest in manual skill dates back to her childhood. Even today, she remembers the image of a woman mending a woolen sock using a small wooden tool—simple yet absorbing work. The scene made a deep impression on her and sparked in her a desire to learn, understand and preserve these techniques that give objects a second life.

More than 60 years later, this curiosity is still very much alive. Nicole continues to explore weaving in all its forms: she learns, experiments and perfects her methods, guided by the desire to create something durable and beautiful.

Brin de Fibre and Les Produits du Québec

Brin de Fibre’s products have earned the Manufactured in Québec certification mark as part of a partnership between the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec and Les Produits du Québec, launched in December 2024.

“Buying local for me means creating human connections, knowing who makes the products we consume and contributing to a more just economy. It supports our artisans and promotes local expertise.”

– Nicole Arsenault, Artisan Weaver
